22 May 2010 Hi Maryke, and all future Travelling Brides Firstly Congratulations!!!! The emotions you are going through are quite familiar. As we were also scared that this company, The Travelling bride whom we had chosen to co ordinate our wedding, didn't exist so we made some phone calls to references, just to make sure as one doesn't want to take any risks these days. I didn't meet with Marrilyn upfront as I made use of technology by scanning in pictures and emailing them to her in order to make sure we are on the same track. I must say it was still a risk but they most certainly pulled it off. I didn't feel the need to meet with any of The Travelling Brides team as they are not present on the day of the wedding and have a wedding co-ordinator running the show on the big day. They have one in every province throughout South Africa and they are highly professional and very efficient. I only went down to KZN to the 3 different venues Marrilyn arranged for me to view and said I should choose from and I chose Salt Rock Hotel because of personal requirements. The viewings were set up by Travelling Bride. This already gave me peace of mind. My friends say that this was the most beautiful wedding that they've ever attended and some have even confessed that they were quite jealous about the whole idea as one would think that it will cost you an arm and a leg. In my opinion, this was not the case. Travelling Bride was the most affordable of all and this after 34 other quotes had been received from various companys. The wedding turned out stunning and the people were all highly professional. The buffet was great and more than enough and most of my guests went for seconds. They enjoyed it so much that there wasn’t any space for the wedding cake. Everyone was talking about the services received from everyone as the wedding-counsellor was extremely good and took us step by step through everything. There were no nasty surprises. The guests were impressed by the violinist who entertained them while they waited for the bride (me) to arrive. The photographer”s work is really top-notch. He made me feel at ease and took some stunning pictures.
The Travelling Bride offer decor at an additional price but I decided to do my own,(with my mom & brother). I would suggest that you make use of the offer as they remove everything afterwards, whereby my family had to ensure my decor was collected. Just a bit of a hassel after everything is over. My hair and make-up was the one thing that made it difficult to relax about, as I didn't do a trial run and had to take the risk. But it was so worth it. The ladies work can be measured by any high standards as they were good and I felt like a million bucks. My hair has natural curls, so at the beach, with the humidity one can only imagine. But they worked it and I was confident. If one should ask if I would do it again using The Travelling Bride/Lets Elope team, I would do so in a heartbeat. Marrilyn and her small team handles the stress while you (the bride) just focus on the minor details like the attire, wedding bands, guest lists and invitations. If my memory serves me well we enquired with Marrilyn 8 months before the big day. I see this as one company offering everything under one roof which really takes a huge amount of the stress off of any bride. Can you imagine meeting with everyone, all my weekends would have been booked up and I personally would have felt overwhelmed. I had the beach wedding of my dreams and not many people can pull that off in my opinion. Marrilyn/Travelling Bride and the team made it look easy and certainly shouldered all the wedding stress, leaving me with nothing to worry about and this made it possible for me to focus on other issues. Hope the feedback will clear any uncertainty and if you need any more feedback or clarity, feel free to drop me a mail. Attached are some photos of what was happening in the background on my special day with a few pics of the day itself. I hope you enjoy. Good luck. Kind Regards/Groetnis

Everything was just perfect. The hotel was brilliant, great support from Taryn and Henry, fantastic food, great service. The venue was so so beautiful, all decorations, table set up, cake. I loved my bouquet. AJ, our marriage officer was fantastic! What a great person! all the guests and us were happy, enjoing, partying and dancing. DJ was unbelievable, he was reading our minds, we did not even have to ask to play that or that song. And Ray, the photographer was brilliant as well, what a talent, fantastic pictures. So at the end of the day it was all brilliant. You`ve done a fantastic job and we are very greatful to you for all your effords, help and support! It was a real shame that we could not meet but we definitely will be back to South Africa soon. Elena and Jeremy
Hi M,
Thanks for the reply, so nice to hear from you, Andre and I were talking about it, its amazing how you can have someone in your thoughts and miss a person whom you haven’t even met, I was saying I feel like I’ve known you forever, couldn’t have found a more amazing person to arrange our special day!! So our anniversary weekend, would probably be traditional and romantic to go back to Tamboti – it’s so lovely there as well!! Lets look at Tamboti.

Hi Marrilyn, Just want to say a very very big thank you for all your help with our wedding. It turned out to be a truly fantastic day and I have had so many compliments from everyone that was there about how beautiful it looked and it was so well organised. The Boathouse is a stunning venue and the service from all the staff from the time we arrived until we left was top notch. I can now see why they charge what they do for accommodation. It is well worth it and we will definitely be going back. And recommending it to other people. AJ - fantastic minister. He brought such a light hearted vibe to the ceremony and so many people were saying how nice it was to have such a relaxed ceremony where people could laugh and join in with their comments. Ray is also a great photographer. He also makes you feel so at ease and from some of the photos I've seen, he has captured some wonderful moments. Anyway, just wanted to let you know I really appreciate everything you did and thanks again to all involved. Kind regards, Linsey and Marc
On the 15 February, we received an email from Michelle Barnard.........

Chantel and Morne had a beach wedding in February 2010
Hi Marrilyn,
Shjoe!!! Where to start...we were amazed at how everything came together without a hitch. The service were superb, all knew what was expected from them. I can gladly say that our memories are build on lasting building bricks that I can treasure forever. We've underestimated the whole elope idea but can say that I'll make the exact same choices if I had to choose again.
You should really try to get hold of some pics as I think you will share the joy when you see how pretty our wedding was. Hair, make-up was a absolute blast as it was a great distraction from the stress that was awaiting me. The cake was a winner as well.
I'm glad for all the colour decor I took along as my mom did her part to make sure the theme was incorporated.
Once again, thanks for a FAB wedding - you are a star!!!
Kind regards,
Chantel & Morne van Niekerk

Hi Marrilyn Thank you thank you thank you! It was fantastic! Everything was extremely well organised and we had a ball of a time! The hotel was wonderful (despite the fact that from day 3 the whole of Zanzibar was without electricity, with the result that we only had water and electricity at the hotel intermittently) and the staff great. They really made a concerted effort to keep us comfortable and happy (see my review on Tripadvisor!). The food at Mtoni is spectacular, the rooms clean and comfortable and the wedding was great! Sjani and her team took their task seriously and staged a beautiful day which we will never forget. Amanda's hair and make-up looked stunning, thanks to Mathilda, and Father Charles is a dear person, who conducted a beautiful ceremony. We are extremely happy with the photos and DVD, too! From both of us, thank you very much! It was a pleasure doing business with you, Marrilyn, and we will recommend The Travelling Bride to anyone! Please feel free to give my e-mail address and/or cellphone number to any of your prospective clients, and I will gladly communicate my satisfaction with your services to them! Kind regards and "asante sana ntena!" Deon & Amanda

Hi Travelling Brides team
The wedding and honeymoon were absolutely fantastic! Our guests are still gushing about how wonderful the day was. Most of them arrived early on Saturday morning and the highlight for all of them was watching the wedding unfold. Seeing the preparations, etc. Derrick, Pixie and the staff were wonderful. They really looked after us and our guests on the wedding night and as small as our wedding was, it was absolutely memorable. The honeymoon was also absolutely wonderful. We were absolutely relaxed and enjoyed every second; without work constraints we would have been extremely tempted to lengthen our stay! During the week, as a wedding present, one of our guests treated us to a day at the Ukuthela Spa, which was also a lovely experience! All in all we were absolutely spoilt!!!
Thank you very much for opening the door to a fantastic experience!
Best regards
Nicole

Kenny is my Uncle, and he also recently got engaged. He was so amazed by my enthusiasm and rave reviews about your service and loved the idea of an island wedding in Mauritius. Talk about hassle free and friendly assistance…. Big difference to what one gets everyday…. And for something that is supposed to be the best day of your life which usually turns out to be the most stressful! I will recommend you to anyone who is contemplating tying the knot
Hope you have a great day!

The day we arrived at Lodge , it was refreshing, and the clean smell of the air was breath taking, we where greeted with a very warm welcome. Our room was spectacular and every thing was in place, we where treated like Kings and Queens.
The wedding was absolutely breathtaking , the service we got from Derrick and Pixies, was out standing, they where running around taking pictures of us, at this point we felt like movie stars, the food was amazing. Our wedding was fantastic.
A great thank you, to you, Derrick and Pixie.
