Island Weddings are very romantic and work well for those who have the budget for them. Many couples are drawn to the islands by the thought of having something different and they’re wanting to get out of South Africa for awhile and if their budget allows for it, then these are simply perfect.
Not ALL of the islands do the legalities though and it’s important that you understand which do and which don’t and what the process includes..
Greece and Mozambique have a very lengthy and expensive process for legalities so we offer the mock wedding ceremony for these two destinations.
What does this mean??....it just means that you take care of the legal side of things prior to departure and you do the ceremony there. Thats it. Some couples prefer to do it this way even for those destinations that do offer the legal side of things. It just makes them more at ease knowing that their legalities are held and have been done in South Africa, but this is your choice. It is important to understand that for those islands who offer taking care of legalities, this works pretty much like going to the court here in South Africa and taking care of the paperwork there. A day is set aside for you when you are collected and taken to the court to sign the legal papers. The ceremony therefore takes place on the beach at your chosen resort a day or two thereafter.
